GREENWASHING, OR THE ART OF LYING

A deceptive marketing practice aimed at making itself look good to its customers...

You're not here to be the sucker!

BRAINWASHING

Combine the word "green" and "brainwashing" and you get " greenwashing ".

It isa deceptive marketing technique, highlighting his company would have an eco-responsible ethics.

But in reality, the label pinned on is not the right one!

Marketing has always been essential to selling a product or service. This is totally logical. You need to develop a marketing strategy to reach your prospects.

However, false advertising is totally forbidden!

Moreover, greenwashing is fought by the ARPP (Autorité de Régulation Professionnelle de la Publicité) in France.

A GOOD IMAGE FOR A BETTER SALE

It is always important to be seen by the clientele, and even in plain sight!

Have a good ethic, a good line of conduct, a message that is reassuring and guarantees values to buyers.

There is nothing better as a brand image for a company!

Nobody likes bad quality, immoral values, etc. Or maybe that's strange.

The environmental protection movement has been growing for a few years now and is becoming one of the main concerns of people.

Who would like to continue to buy in their usual store, knowing all of a sudden that this brand has a dubious image?

So we make it up with a nice advertisement to sell.

A pretty blush for a pretty smile and hide the real misery, and the trick and play!

Except that you are not here to be put to sleep by the stupidity of these scammers.

THE MASKS COME OFF!

Indeed, the big brands (manufacturing products in a way ... not very green) like to play us tricks with vocabulary and actions well chosen.

Green! It must be green! Let's repaint this package all green!

"Planet-friendly", "environmentally friendly", "non-polluting", "green", etc. Let's fool the population with the use of vague terms to reassure the consumer.

Mistake! BIG mistake!

Since the amendment of ISO 14021, in 2016, these terms only bringing confusion, it is mandatory to WELL specify the environmental standards of used.

The terms, symbols and graphics concerning the products.

All the details.

An item description seems confusing? It is surely a sign to avoid! Or ask them for more information.

EXAMPLES OF GREENWASHING

Surely you want to have examples of greenwashing after all this?

It is obvious that you have already seen advertising campaigns with this false ecological ideology to better sell a product or a service.

But what sector are we talking about...

Ah, but yes! Why not the fashion industry!

So, then ...

In 2019, the Norwegian Consumer Authority reprimanded clothing brand H&M for selling its collection entitled "Conscious."

What does this inspire you? Yes indeed, a "conscience", therefore a reflection, a real ethical research must have been brought to this collection!

Indeed, you were offered clothes made from recycled fabrics.

With the headline "ZERO WASTE".

Aïe aïe aïe..

These famous recycled materials were indeed part of the garment. So what's the problem?

They were certainly present. But less than 20% of the total fabric.

Not to mention the other brands in the various industries that put forward a great ecological advantage, all to hide an even more harmful product behind. And in the same product!

In particular in the cosmetics industry; "paraben free". But behind, other substances even more chemical are present to the call.

We then move away from the annoying subject by showing "better".

GOOD NEWS!

Since 2019, the National Assembly has made totally ILLEGAL greenwashing.

You can take out the champagne!

With all this information, you can now more easily notice which companies are truly committed (to others).

And all's well that ends well.
